How we use and share it

We use your information to run FlashMap: show activities near you, let you join and host, send the notifications you turned on, keep the community safe, and understand which features help people get out and do things.

We do not sell your personal information, we do not show ads, and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

We share information only with service providers that run parts of the app for us, and only what each needs:

ProviderWhat it does for FlashMapWhat it receives
SupabaseHosts our database, sign-in and photo storage in the United StatesYour account, activity and usage data
ExpoDelivers push notificationsYour notification token and the notification text
Apple and GoogleDeliver the app and notifications to your deviceWhat their platforms need to do so
Apple Maps or Google MapsDraw the mapMap requests for the area on your screen
OpenAI and Google PlacesHelp us find and verify public events for the mapPublic event information only. Never your personal data

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect someone’s safety, or as part of a sale or merger of FlashMap, in which case this policy continues to apply.

Visibility, deletion and your choices

What other people can see. Your username and display name, activities you host, and that you are going to an activity if you leave attendee visibility on. Your email address is never shown. If a host hides an activity’s exact spot, only people who join can see it.

How long we keep it. We keep your information while your account exists. You can delete your account anytime in the app (Profile, then Settings). Deleting it permanently removes your account, the activities you host, your joins, saves, usage events, notification tokens and city requests. Copies in our backups are removed on their normal schedule. We may keep limited records where the law or a safety investigation requires it.

Your choices.

Age. FlashMap is for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you think a minor is using FlashMap, tell us and we will delete the account.

California residents. You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and you will not be treated differently for asking. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising.

Changes and contact. We will post updates here and tell you in the app about important changes. Questions or requests: support@flashmap.co.
